In Which I Wear Some Target Shirts

HELLO PALS,

If I’ve learned anything over the past couple of years of dressing Business CasualTM, it is 1) I could wear a turtleneck every single day of my life, and 2) the best shirts are t-shirts that look nice enough to be Somewhat Professional. I have therefore been Delighted to find out that Target is carrying some prime options for both, and here is the post where I tell you about them.

This post is not sponsored—instead, it is the product of trying to find some Common Idea to divide the LooksTM I’ve worn recently into separate posts. HOWEVER, if Target would like to send me some more of these shirts, I would NOT COMPLAIN. (Because I now live within walking distance of a Target, I am probably sponsoring THEM. This is my reward for having to drive two and a half hours to reach one in Montana.)

The first two looks use different colors of the same shirt, which is available here in Many A Color. (I don’t see black listed online, but I bought it in-store within the last couple of months.) I also waited until a fresh stock came in, because when I first saw them, the shoulders were really stretched out on their hangers. I’m wearing size Large, which as you can see is long enough to tuck into high-waisted pants. I enjoy the mock neck, the elbow-length sleeves, the seam detail up the back, and the fact that they look ClassyTM while being as comfortable as a regular t-shirt.

Jeans (same in both looks; cuffed under at right) - AE Ne(x)t Level Super High-Waisted Jegging, bought 8/2020 - similar still available. I consistently wear a 10 X-Long at AE. Also worn here.

Belt (same in both looks) - bought at a county fair booth ca. 2010 - also worn here, here, and here.

Loafers (left) - Indigo Road Haisley Loafer, bought 2/2021 - also worn here and here.

Booties (right) - Diba, ca. 2019 or 2020 - also worn here and here.

Necklace (left) - inherited from my grandma

Hedgehog cat toy (left) - Meijer, bought 7/2022 - set decoration by Dilara O’Malley

The next Look is more casual, but I wore it to work on my birthday because at THIRTY I’m pretty sure I can DO WHAT I WANT. (Also, we don’t have a formal dress code.) It is features this shirt in another Combination I could wear every single day of my life, which is leather jacket + jeans + boots. (Where Have I Heard That Before!!!!) My extremely professional ancient cell phone camera setup didn’t capture the details very well, but this shirt’s slimmer fit, rib knit, wider collar, and fitted sleeve make it slightly fancier than one out of Ye Olde Hanes multipack. I am wearing the Large in this one as well.

Jacket - Meijer ca. 2017 or 2018 - also worn here and here.

Jeans - American Eagle High-Waisted Skinny Jean, bought 8/2020 (this style no longer available, but I consistently wear a 10 X-Long at AE) - also worn here.

Belt - bought at a county fair booth ca. 2010 - also worn above, here, here, and here.

Boots - Ariat Heritage III Paddock, bought 12/2016 - similar (Heritage IV) still available. I have always found Ariat boots to fit true to size. Also worn here and here.

Necklace - inherited from my grandma - also worn above.

I haven’t been very impressed with Target clothes for the past couple of years, but so far all three of these shirts have washed well and kept their fit, and I’ve had a couple other good finds recently that I’ll probably share in the future—including the first pair of pants I’ve bought in-store in 15+ years. (!!!!)

Have you had any good Target finds lately? Do you also live in turtlenecks as much as you can? Is this county-fair belt the most-worn item on this entire blog? Share your Thoughts in the comments.

Until next time, I remain,

YOUR PAL.
