In Which I Scavenge A Cat Tree And Start A Style Blog

HELLO PALS,

I’ve been working on this Style BlogTM for a long time—since before I even knew I’d have a style blog, back when I thought I was just going to write about my adventures with Sally Pony and throw in some tips about what to bring to a guest ranch. At that point I’d traded the wilderness for a barn job, then the barn job for a job in the 1800s, and then the 1800s for a modern job teaching people about the 1800s, and all those changes in jobs came with changes in dress codes. And then, at the beginning of this year, I got an Actual Office Job, where instead of business CASUAL we had to dress BUSINESS casual, and that was a whole new adventure.

I approached it as I approach all things: with a mixture of Meticulous Planning and Absolutely Winging It.

As I recorded the outfits (meticulous planning) that I created based on Past Successes (meticulous planning) and also what laundry was clean each day (winging it), I started to consider sharing the process, because I’m not the only one who’s had to adapt their wardrobe to new jobs and new dress codes—from Barn to Business Casual. And while I’m not a Fashion Expert, I do know a lot about some things—like what to bring to a guest ranch, and where to find clothes when you’re Really Tall. And for things I don’t know? I Meticulously Plan, and I Wing It. This is your invitation to come along for the ride.

So, for the past couple of months I’ve been taking photos, researching websites, and trying to decide on the best way to introduce the blog I’ve been working on for so long. And folks, it turns out it’s with today’s outfit, because what better illustrates my StyleTM than stopping at a neighbor’s curb to wrestle a rain-soaked cat tree into the back of your truck while still wearing your work clothes and 3” heels?

(Also, my dad said he liked this outfit, and someone at work said she liked my boots.)

You’ll see a lot of variations of this LookTM on this blog, and a lot of ways to wear these same pieces. Since it’s supposed to snow tomorrow, you’ll probably see a lot more of this coat. If I end up having to re-carpet this cat tree, you’ll probably see that process, too. This blog’s going to be a journey, and after months of Meticulous Planning, it’s time to Wing It and find out where it goes.

Until next time, I am

YOUR PAL.
